The difference between God and anybody else you know – is love! Think; you may say, “I have a car,” but you can never say, “I am a car.” Similarly, you may say, “I have love,” but you can never say, “I am love.” But God can! He is love! It’s His very essence!
He loves you, and the only thing you can do about it is accept it, or reject it. He doesn’t even try to explain it to you; even if He did, you still wouldn’t understand it.
Listen to Paul’s prayer, “… may you be able to feel and understand… how long, how wide, how deep and how high His love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves” (Ephesians 3:18-19 TLB).
Settle it once and for all – God loves you unconditionally! Get rid of your ‘daisy petal’ mentality – “He loves me, He loves me not.” God’s decision to love you is based on Him – not you.
Paul writes, “God put His love on the line for us… while we were of no use whatever to Him” (Romans 5:8 TM). Think about it; you can’t earn God’s love, and you can’t forfeit it. All you can do is accept it, then pass it on to others.
One day a little girl asked her mother, “If Jesus lives in my heart, do you think if I wrote Him a note saying ‘I love you,’ and swallowed it, that He’d read it?” Her mum smiled and said, “No dear, the best way to show Jesus you love Him is to love others.” Good answer!
