A Word To Caregivers

Tabitha, arise. Acts 9:40

Do you sometimes encourage others, then walk away discouraged yourself, wondering, “Who’s there for me?” Or find yourself helping others, even when helping them is hurting you? If so, please read the story of Tabitha (Dorcas) in Acts 9:36, and notice:

(1) God never forgets a labour of love (Hebrews 6:10). Others may forget, but not Him. Just when you need Him most, He’ll show up. When Dorcas died, God sent Peter to raise her from the dead and show us that He cares for caregivers, and loves lovers.

(2) No matter how strong you are, there comes a time when everybody has to leave you alone with God. When Peter came in, he sent everybody else out, and Dorcas was left alone with the only One who could raise her up again. You can’t keep giving out without taking in. A tree cannot continue to bear fruit without rest. The ground cannot continue to yield a harvest without replenishing the soil. Get to your prayer closet! Read your Bible! Allow God to renew you and restore you! (Isaiah 40:31).

To you who feel burned out, stressed out and laid out like Dorcas, God is saying, “I’m not through with you yet. I’ve got a plan and a purpose for your life. You may be discouraged, but it’s not over until I say it’s over. Put death on hold. Drive depression out. You’ve given so much to so many, now I’m saying to you, Today is your day. Child of Mine, arise!”
