Great is Thy faithfulness.Lamentations 3:23

Don’t be too hard on Thomas for doubting. He’d already given up his job once, to follow a man he’d seen crucified and buried. So when they said, “Jesus is alive,” Thomas wasn’t taking any chances.

That’s what we do when our faith seems to fail, isn’t it? Discard it in favour of something we think is absolute! Listen, “Unless I see… I will not believe” (John 20:25 NIV). Did Thomas’s lack of faith do away with the resurrection? No! When somebody says, “Miracles are not for today,” does that do away with them? No! It just means they’ll probably never experience one, for Jesus said, “These signs shall follow them that [do] believe” (Mark 16:17).

Thomas almost missed the greatest event of his life because he limited himself to one method of believing – seeing. Yet eyewitnesses are often the most unreliable. Do you think the magician really saws the lady in half, or makes the table float in mid-air? Remember the brilliant people who looked through a telescope and told us the earth was flat, and that the sun revolved around it? Today’s scientific fact can become tomorrow’s scientific nonsense.

Every time you fly trusting a pilot you’ve never even met, or drive your car trusting the other drivers on the road to stay in their lane, you’re operating in faith. You can’t function without it.

The real question is, who is worthy of your trust? The only sure answer is – God! Why? Because, “Great is Thy faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).
