Some parts of a Roman soldier’s armour were elaborate, because they were designed to make a statement of strength and authority. Apart from his shield, his helmet made the biggest impression. It was bronze, with feathers on the top, and made him look 10 feet tall!
By calling this “the helmet of salvation”, Paul could not have made a more powerful statement about your redemption. When you truly understand that you are eternally and absolutely saved – you’ll stand 10 feet tall! And people will notice the difference. When everyone around you is ‘losing their cool’, they’ll notice you keeping yours, because of the joy of your salvation.
Because the helmet of salvation covers your head, Paul is saying that your mind must be focused at all times on the most basic of all spiritual truths – you are saved! Keep that in the forefront of your thinking
When the disciples returned to Jesus rejoicing in the miracles they’d done, He said, “Rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). None of the blessings of this life compare to eternal life in Christ!
When the enemy brings up your past, remind him that he has no authority over you. He can’t touch what belongs to God. He can’t set foot in the life of anyone who’s been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus. When you take that position, you stand 10 feet tall in the Spirit!
