Every terrorist was once a child; so was every missionary. What made the difference? The influence of a parent! Samuel the Prophet led the nation of Israel for 40 years. He guided the king in some of his most crucial decisions. But who was the dominant influence in his life? His mother! Listen to her prayer at his birth, “I prayed for this child, and the Lord answered my prayer… Now I give him back… He will belong to the Lord all his life” (1 Samuel 1:27 NIV).
Never underestimate the power that’s released when a parent pleads with God on behalf of a child. Who knows how many prayers are being answered right now because of faithful parents who prayed 10 or 20 years ago.If what you are doing in this fast-paced society is taking you away from prayer time for your children – you’re doing too much! Mother, there’s nothing more important than the time you spend interceding with God on their behalf.
It’s not too late for the child who has brought you tears and grief. Jesus’ mother had to watch her son be crucified. But she also had the joy of seeing Him raised again from the dead. You may go to your grave wondering if your prayers will ever be answered, but don’t stop praying. Why? Two reasons: (1) God works according to His schedule – not ours! (2) When godly mothers pray – things change!
