Be persistent in your prayers Ephesians 6:18
|
| The trouble is, we just don’t realise what we’ve got in our hands. We see prayer as some kind of inconvenient spiritual homework. We’d much rather tap fingers on the old console than clasp them in prayer. And so prayer becomes just like that overdue essay – left well past the deadline. Imagine your rich uncle hands over his platinum card for some serious shopping; do you hide the piece of plastic in your bottom drawer or do you taxi it down to retail rapture quicker than you can shout ‘Spend! Spend! Spend!’ Our guess is your uncle will be re-mortgaging the mansion when he gets your bill! So, why is it, God gives us His heavenly platinum card and we file it with ‘list of chores’ to do? Yep, the heavenly credit card can be maxed out with divine wisdom and guidance and a life-time supply of all we’ll ever need – and yet we choose to live in the red. Jeremiah 33:3 says, ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great … things, which you do not know’(NIV). The answers you want are found on your knees. Luke 11:10 says, ‘Be direct. Ask for what you need.’(TM) Jesus is clearly tempting you to max out the prayer platinum. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, ‘Pray all the time’(TM). God isn’t worried about the bill; He’s expecting you to go a little crazy. Trouble is, you just don’t know what you’ve got in your hands. |
