OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN MAT 6:9 |
| Praying is an amazing privilege. We can talk to the Creator of the universe just as if we?ve got a ?Hands Free Kit?. God listens carefully to our every word and responds in ways that will always do us good. Jesus taught his friends to pray and he began by helping them to understand God in a way that was new for them ? as a truly loving Dad, or in their language ?Abba?. Author, Max Lucado, once visited Israel with his family. He had an awesome time and wrote about it in his book, ?One afternoon in old Jerusalem, as my daughter Jenna and I were exiting the Jaffa Gate, we found ourselves behind a Jewish family ? a father and his 3 little girls. The 4-year-old fell a few steps behind and couldn?t see him. ?Abba!? she called. He stopped immediately. Only then did he realise they were separated. ?Abba!? she called again. Immediately he extended his hand and she took it. I made mental notes. I wanted to see the actions of an ?Abba?. He held her hand tightly as they descended the ramp. When they stopped at a busy street, she stepped off the curb and he pulled her back. When the signal changed he led her and her sisters through the busy intersection. In the middle of the street, he reached down, swept her up into his arms and continued their journey.? Who?ll take our hand when we?re weak? Who?ll guide us through the hectic intersections of life? Who?ll swing us up into His arms and carry us home? God ? our loving Dad ? our Abba. No matter what you?re facing today, all you have to is pause, close your eyes and whisper, ?Abba,? and He?ll be there for you! |
