Although we live in the ?United Kingdom? that doesn?t really help us grasp what Jesus is communicating here. Borders and boundaries don?t feature in God?s kingdom. It?s more than that. Each time you obey God, His ?kingdom? is operating in your life just as it does in heaven. Can you imagine an angel in heaven telling God, ?no thanks? or ?I?ll think about it? or ?I can?t be bothered?? ?Your Kingdom come, Your will be done? means, ?Be fully in control of everything in my sphere of influence. I will lay down my agenda and pick up yours. If you?re not Lord over all, then you?re not Lord at all? Be honest; as you re-examine where you?ve messed up, whose plan were you following ? His or yours? Did you even brother to ask Him? Did you cool it and listen to what He had to say. Or did you not like the direction He gave you, so you launched out on your own? Countries that reject the rule of a king or queen and decide to do things their own way are called Republics ? but there?s no such thing as the republic of God. God?s will can be painful, because He has only one plan for your sinful nature ? death. Paul wrote, ?I die daily? Ouch! (1 Cor 15:31). Amazingly the end result of dying to self-satisfaction is ?abundant living?. When you pray, ?Your will be done?, you?re after the true passion of the heart of God. Would He hide from you what?s in His heart? Never! No, when you pray, ?Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven,? rest assured, that?s a prayer He?ll answer! |
