GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD MAT 6:11 |
| Our good bud St Paul says that a man who won?t feed his own family, is worse than an unbeliever (See 1Tim 5:8). So would God do less for us? No way – how can we fulfil our mission, unless our needs are met? How can we be an example and an influence to others, if we ourselves are falling to bits? Listen: ?God?will give you every good thing you need so you can do what he wants? (Heb 13:20 NCV). We pray, ?Give us this day our daily bread,? only to find our prayer already answered. We?re like the sixth former who decides to go to Uni, then learns the cost of tuition fees. She says to her mum, ?I?m sorry to ask so much, but I?ve got nobody else to turn to.? Her mum smiles and says, ?Don?t worry, since the day you were born your dad and I began saving for your education. We?ve already provided everything you need.? God has that same parental love for you. Has that sort of thing ever happened to you? Suddenly you realise that somebody else is providing your needs! Independence is over-rated ? we take a giant step in maturity when we agree with King David?s words, ?Everything we have has come from you? (1Ch 29:14 NLT). You may help to push the trolley around the supermarket once a week, but there?s more to putting food on the table than that. What about the seed, the soil, and the sun? Long before you knew you needed someone to take care of you ? God already had! He?s devoted to you! He cares about the details and provides for His own. And you?ve got to admit, so far He?s done a pretty good job! |
