The Wisdom To Win Souls | Pray for India

If you want to win someone to Christ, use wisdom, especially in these three areas:

1. Don’t assume they understand, because they were raised in church, or think they’ll ‘catch it’ by osmosis, because you’ve ‘lived the life’ before them. Listen: “How can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

(Romans 10:14 NIV). Share your testimony – the short version. Forget the good advice, just give them the good news about God’s love!

2. As much as you’d like to ‘close the deal’ right then, sometimes you have to sow the seed and leave the rest to the Lord of the harvest. Don’t try to ‘corner’ them into praying the sinner’s prayer. Share the Word, leave the door open, and trust the One who said, “I am watching over My Word to perform it” (Jeremiah 1:12 NAS).

3. When God speaks to you, don’t put it off. R.A. Torrey had an experience that totally changed his attitude toward soul-winning. While he was eating at a restaurant with some friends, God impressed him to talk to the waiter who looked very depressed. But he ignored it. An hour later when the waiter didn’t return, he inquired about him. The manager replied, “We just found him dead in the back of the restaurant. He hanged himself.” When God leads you to speak to someone – do it!
