God is able to make him stand.Romans 14:4
I’m wary of two kinds of people: those who brag about their sinful past, and those who act as if they never had one. We all have an ‘old nature’ and it’ll act up if we let it. The tremors after an earthquake are called ‘aftershocks.’ The same is true spiritually. After you’ve been saved, you’ll still have tremors of fear, lust, pride, and temptation. How do you handle them? Listen, “Having done all… stand” (Ephesians 6:13). They’ll pass if you’ll only stand up to them in His name!
Come on; announce to the enemy today that in God’s strength you’re going to stand until the shaking quits… until the thunder stops rolling… until the midnight turns to dawn… until you feel peace again… until the wave of loneliness passes… until your marriage is restored… until you come out of debt… until the struggle is over!
Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”(Philippians 4:13). The word strengtheneth is a continuous verb. He doesn’t just strengthen you once, He does it again and again.
He does it every time you face a difficult challenge… or a memory comes back to haunt you… or you face hard choices… or you start feeling self-pity over the things you didn’t receive.
Some days you’ll need a little more strength than others. But every time you need it, you can run to ‘El-Shaddai – the nurturing, protecting One,’ and He’ll be there for you. Drawing strength from Him may call for some changes… like prayer… praise… getting into His Word… and having an intensity you’ve never had before. But you can stand – if you want to!
